Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral for physical therapy?
In Iowa, most health insurance policies do not require a doctor’s referral for you to be evaluated or treated by a physical therapist. Medicare, Medicaid, and some private insurance policies do require a referral, so be sure to verify your coverage with your insurance provider in advance. If a referral is needed, ask your doctor or specialist to provide you with a prescription for therapy, adding any relevant diagnostic information or operative notes.
What insurances do you take?
We accept all insurance plans. Check your specific plan to see what it covers for physical therapy and whether any restrictions apply.
What should I bring?
Bring your photo ID and your insurance card to your first appointment, as well as any cash payments or co-pays.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your first visit or change when you arrive.
How long will my appointment be?
Plan for about an hour on your first visit so we have time to evaluate your situation and understand your goals. You can expect subsequent appointments to last approximately 40 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
Because every program is tailored to your unique needs, the number of sessions vary for each person. Together, we’ll collaborate on a plan that meets your goals, your schedule, and your budget.
How do you communicate with my other health professionals?
We view ourselves as a member of your healthcare team, just like your doctor, dentist, or eye doctor. With your permission, we'll coordinate your care with other members of your team to help you reach your goals for recovery, wellness, and performance.
