My Philosophy
I am incredibly passionate about the power of connection, education, and overall health – body and brain. As a physical therapist, I get to combine these passions as I work one-on-one with individuals of all backgrounds to help them achieve their movement goals. My goal is to provide a space in which my patients feel heard as they share their story, so that, together, we can work as a team to get them back to functioning at their optimal level. Through education, I strive to empower patients to make positive changes to their overall health, regardless of where they are at in their health journey. I value research and use evidence-based practice to guide my treatment sessions. I have a special interest in the rehabilitation of neurological conditions, especially Parkinson’s Disease, in addition to orthopedic and sports physical therapy. I am certified in SFMA 1 & 2, LSVT Big, Functional Dry Needling Levels 1 & 2, and trained in Graston Technique.
My Background
I was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois, but I consider Iowa my home now. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology and a Spanish minor. I spent a semester abroad in Sevilla, Spain, and I am extremely passionate about traveling and experiencing new cultures, food, people, and places. I spent a year working as an Admission Counselor at Iowa before pursuing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, also at the University of Iowa (Go Hawks!). I am Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Iowa and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Ryan, and being active outdoors through running, hiking, wakeboarding, and snowboarding. I enjoy traveling, spending time with friends, family, and our two cats, Stella and Roux, reading, baking, and playing the ukulele.
