My Philosophy

Physical therapy is an active participation endeavor for both the therapist and the patient.  My philosophy has always been to place the patient first. I accomplish this by listening to your needs, setting goals with you, and developing a treatment plan to accomplish those goals.

My treatment approach combines education, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and motor control training. I am proud to tell people I am a physical therapist and I make every effort to bring the best care to my patients. I take great pride in my work, and will strive to earn your trust. You have the right to choose your healthcare providers, and I want to be on your team.

My Background

I earned my Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in 1998. After graduation, I earned an advanced certification in Manual Therapy from the University of St Augustine. I owned and operated Iowa City Physical Therapy, and after 5 years, decided I needed a change to focus more on the things I love — patient care and my family.

I treat general orthopedics, from injured athletes working to return to sport, to patients needing post-operative rehab and individuals with neck or low back pain. I have developed a niche in the area, working with patients who have complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).  When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 children as well as hunting, fishing, and being active.

Steve Clark and the Kepros Physical Therapy Team in North Liberty were absolutely THE Game Changers for me while I rehabilitated from an injury I suffered to my knee while training for an athletic event. My quad, hamstrings and glutes were very weak from the long period of time without effective therapy and my knee was making very little progress. I was referred to Kepros and what a positive deal breaker for me! As a result of their outstanding care, positive encouragement, focus and a rehabilitation plan that fit my specific needs, not only was I able to heal, but I was able to begin training again for an event that I most wanted to participate in. I was able to do all of the difficult training and requirements necessary which allowed me to successfully accomplish the 29029 Everesting Challenge in 2024! This was a huge goal for me and a dream come true. I owe it to the Kepros PT and Performance Team in North Liberty. They are an outstanding team of professionals and I am so appreciative for everything they did to help me toward my daily quality of life and toward my goals.

He genuinely cares for the wellbeing of all his clients. Simply put: Steve knows what he is doing, and he does it better than anyone else in the area.

I just wanted to say thank you again for your excellent care for Hannah this past fall. She is now in track season and after continuing her physical therapy exercises all winter that you gave her, her quad muscles are feeling great! She has somehow turned into more of a sprinter, running 200s and 400s this season and is doing well. Now she just needs to get those calf muscles stronger!

You were a huge part of her recovery, both physically and mentally. Thank you so much!
